The Anton Podbevšek Theatre is the first professional theatrical institution in the region of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina, and the youngest Slovenian professional theatre. The name in the title – Anton Podbevšek – belongs to the first Slovenian avant-gardist, the founder of the first regional art exhibition, which Marjan Mušič later named the Novo Mesto Spring. This reflects the institution’s active ontological and aesthetic orientation. The APT’s strategy for productions and theatre concepts is based on a visual institute that combines elite and popular culture with the smallest possible amplitude.
