Base 20
During World War II, Base 20 was the headquarters of the military and political leadership of the Slovenian National Liberation Movement and other partisan organizations. A total of 26 barracks were built. Today, it is the only preserved monument of this type of resistance movement in Europe.
The role and significance of Base 20 are presented today through a permanent exhibition in barrack no. 16, while the full range of partisan activities in the Kočevski Rog is showcased in barrack no. 22. Nearby, you can find the former partisan hospitals of Jelendol and Zgornji Hrastnik.
Base 20 can be freely visited, and a paved road from Podturn leads there. Alternatively, you can choose a guided tour.
Embark on a journey to explore the secret Base 20 with the “Secrets of Dolenjska” app.
