Kočevski rog
Kočevski Rog, a high Dinaric mountain range, stretches 25 km in length, with its highest peaks exceeding 1000 meters. Geologically, carbonate rocks dominate, creating karst formations, caves, and sinkholes. The forests are naturally preserved and home to numerous animal species, including wolves, bears, and lynxes. . The area is part of the Natura 2000 network. It is linked to the lost heritage of the Gottscheers, a German community from the 14th century. During World War II, the Rog was a center of the resistance movement. Today, it is a popular destination for hiking and recreation.
