Land of Hayracks

Šentrupert-located Hayracks Country is the world-first open air museum of hayracks. 19 drying devices are exhibited there, from which 17 are hayracks representing each hayrack type present in Slovenia. The objective of this installation is to show the entire historic development process of hayrack and its importance for the region. It is renowned for an exhibit named Lukatov Toplar, one of the oldest preserved twin-hayracks preserved worldwide, whose origin goes back to 1795. The project is not only important in terms of preserving cultural heritage, but has also significantly contributed to a greater visibility of the Municipalty of Šentrupert and the development of tourism there.
