Mirna Castle
Castle Mirna, also known as the Sleeping Beauty, is considered one of the oldest castles in Slovenia, with roots dating back to the 11th century. It was built on the former territory of Countess Ema Breško-Selška, and throughout history, it has been owned by numerous important noble families, such as the Counts of Celje and the Habsburgs.
The castle survived Turkish invasions, peasant uprisings, and numerous reconstructions. Today, it is in the process of restoration, focusing on reconstruction to its former scale, offering insight into its rich past and cultural heritage.
