Dolenjska museum

At the Dolenjski Museum in Novo mesto, visitors can view four permanent exhibitions. The archaeological display of Dolenjska presents all the most important items that place Dolenjska and Novo mesto among the exceptional European archaeological heritage and significantly contribute to the understanding of European prehistory. The ethnological exhibition showcases the rural and craft lifestyle in Dolenjska during the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. The modern history exhibition covers the period from the late 19th century to 1945, with the central focus on the Second World War in Dolenjska. The exhibition Leon Štukelj 1898-1999 highlights the life of the famous Olympian. There are always interesting temporary exhibitions on display.
