Pleterje Monastery and the open-air museum
In the hidden valley under Gorjanci for centuries there is the Carthusian monastery and is today the only living monastery in the Slavic world. Carthusians are living in solitary community where monks in solitude and silence dedicated following of Christ. Therefore, the greater part of the monastery is in seclusion – inaccessible to the public. An old gothic church from 1406, which is on display multivision about the life of monks and cultural attractions Monastery, is opened for visitors.
In the outdoor museum monastery, which represents the old traditional farmstead from the 1833 visitors learn about the cradle of the Slovenian nation. In the domestic shop you can buy monastic grown products, according to order they can arrange the Pleterje wine tastings which includes seven samples of wines from cviček, mass wine, Blaufränkisch, predicate wines and sparkling wines.
